12 MAY 2009 This past week was a good one as we are seeing marked improvement in many of the players. At the Mite level we worked on communicating and looking to pass, certainly two of the more important and basic aspects of the game. At the Squirt and PeeWee level we taught the concept of creating space by moving to open ice, then the supporting player skating into that area to receive a pass. These "small" tips are the foundation upon which good players are developed. 5 MAY 2009 This week in European 3 on 3 we added to last weeks "moving to get the puck back" concept. We taught the kids an "escape" move Its really a great way to take back ice and give you a chance to create space and get your self some time to pick your head up and look before you make a play. Its one of the simpliest yet most effective tools a player can develop. * Mite parents if your child attended this past weeks 3 on 3 see Coach Whitney for some tips on what your player needs to work on, he did an evaluation of each Mite player in attendance last week. 29 APRIL 2009 This week in Euro 3 on 3, We taught the players the difference between "getting open" and "moving to get the puck back." We showed players how to escape an opponent, then pick up their heads to make a pass while their teammate was putting themself in a spot where they could receive a pass and not have opponents in between them. It's one of many vital concepts we will be teaching our players to make them better.
